Francis Gary Powers
told me that he had been called by Perkins of Holt-Rinehart
yesterday. Perkins asked what Powers had decided an the book. snd_
said, "There has been a change in policy and Frank has agreed to abide by

Perkins, he didn't have a chance to call me first. He said that Perkins was
friendly and apparently understood the decision. Perkins also said that he
thought that Powers had had able representation in s most difficult problem and

first in the event that he would publish in the future.
