FOIAb3b Sanitized - Approved For-ReTease : CIA-RD Mrs.. Richard 'Naarknesa telephoned to say that s ,, w recently as a team did a story for the SAURDAY EVEN! PCB on the CIA, are now working on a story regarding "Government Security." She said they are not identifying particular cases by naming the individuals concerned, but are securing the stories of individuals who have been involved in government security investigations, and also are asking government agencies concerned for information on these specific cases, Mrs. Rarkness said that former Senator 'Derry Gain had referred to them 25X1A9aa who sags she left the CIA last July following an interro- gation period covering some several weeks. We. Harkness asks that we furnish her with what we can regarding the AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII case. I told her I would look into 25X1 A the matter and call her back. It is my belief that there are two guiding elements here, (1) Cm does not disclose names or information on any one involved in a so-called security case; (2) as a matter of policy CIA does not inform the press the reason for any employee's departure from the CIA payroll. Unless there is disagreement, I contemplate informing Mrs. Harkness that we are very sorry but we do not make public the reason why ceased 25X1 APa to be a CIA employee. I yP-ilky-0!
