Approved For Release 200(A$1/Vb~y4-RDP75-0~01-1ROOD4II0290008-5 The Federal. Diary 26 U. S. Executives Wind Up Course In Business Training CPYRGHT By Jerry Kluttz SAIL NAC LAKE, N. Y., Aug. 9 Twenty-six Federal career executives had the op- portunity during the past weeks here to do what Presi- dent Eisenhow- er believes they should do more of-think about their jobs and how to improve them. Their minds were stimulat- Kluttz ed by a man- . . agement course given at the academy here of the non-profit American Man- agement Association, world's largest organization of its kind. They were constantly chal- lenged to solve management problems of both industry and Government. The students liked best the last week here, which was called an "assimilation exer- cise." In that period, the stu- dents were broken up in teams to operate for five years a $20 million industrial concern whose owner had died sud- denly and whose widow exas perated the executives with irritating orders and com- ments. The make-believe corpora- tion and its problems were made as realistic as possible. Profit and loss 'statements, ased on actions taken by the xecutives, were run off at he end of each three-month eriod by an IBM electronic achine. The career people found the ressures, fears and frustra. ions similar to those they en- ounter in Government work. Approved For Release 2000/08/03 : CIA-RDP75-00001 R000400290008-5
