Dear Sirs,
! am a senior at California state College at Los
Angeles majoring in history. A,%a topic for my term
paper I nave cnosen the events surrounding the death
of the last Czar of Russia, Nicholas II. It is asp-
sumed that Nicholas and his entire family, including
his son Alexeip were killed by the Bolsheviks in 19th.
However, in an article appearing in the Los Angeles
Times of oanuary 24, 1965, a certain Col. michael
Go.leniewski claims that he is the Czar's son and that
the family wasn't killed in 19113, but survived. In the
article,, which appeared on page B. section 1. Golen-
iewski states that he served as a spy for the C.I.A.
after World War' II.. He also says, and l quote from
the Times, "After I was brought to the United States
by the Central Intelligence Agency...! was given many
tests which substs, ntiated that I am actually the Czar-
evich, Grand Duke Alexei Nicholaevich Romanoff."'
I would appreciate any information you could give3'me
concerning this claim.
iJours sincerely,
PA P
