1967 Sanitized Approved For Release : CIA- CPYRGHT 1 DENVER PAPER SAYS O.I.A. USE OIL UNION DENVER.'Feb_ 24 (API- The Denver Post said in a copy- righted article Friday that the Central Intelligence Agency used a Denver-based labor or- ganization "to pump hundreds of thousands of dollars into undercover activities in Latin America and the Middle-East." The paper named the organ- ization as the International Federation of Petroleum and Chemical Workers, which claims about two million members in 153 unions in 78 countries. Ibyd Haskins, general secre- tary of the federation, velhe- mently denied that the federa- tion had received any funds from the intelligence agency. "I don't know whore you got such a report," Mr. Haskins said. "It's completely false." The Post, said sources in Washington and Switzerland had confirmed that the federa- tion received a total of $40,000 in 1961' and 1962 from the An- drew Hamilton Fund of Phila- delphl'a. It said this fund had been !'identified as a link in the C.I.A. money-funneling opera- tion." "Other sources said C.I.A. ,funding of the federation would probably total 'several hundred .thousand dollars a year; " the gaper added.
