"But he looks healthy and apparently he eats very well," the 85-year-old widow from Yonkers, told neWSmen on her return from a 12-day visit to Red China. "it came as a shock, seeing the changes in him after five years," she said. "I suppose if you see someone every day you don't notice the change." She said she was "hopeful" for the eventual release o her son, Hugh Francis Red- mond Jr., a former Shanghai tobacco importer. But she de- clined to discuss further th possibility of his freedom.
