It was announced, that these Yankee interventionist commandos have orders not to. take prisoners and.-to mutilate the bodies of (captives?) so that they will not be identified,., EL..POPULAR REPORTS EXECUTIONS BY DIGEPOL Montevideo Correspondent's Dispatch in Spanish to PRENSA LATINA Havana 1730 GMT (Text) Montevideo--The newspaper EL POPULAR, in a special article detelined Caracas,, reports the execution of several political prisoners by DIGEPOL members in Venezuela. The eommuniet newspaper states that the murder of the political prisoners took place. in Cupria, Miranda State, and that their bodies were found later "with evident signs. .that they were savagely tortured, before being murdered in a cowardly manner."'. Sociologist Victor Soto Rojas and worker ^lrino'Barrios--distinguished members of tkie? Leftist Revolutionary Moveraent (NIR)--wero among the murdered persons. The daily says that the prisoners "we:e turned over by the sinister political polico--the DIGEPOL--to Capt. Hector Pena Pena, the commander of the National Guard Bolivar batallion, which operates in the eastern guerrilla zone. The paper adds that the execution order carried out'by Captain'Pena Pena was issued by the Defense Ministry; and the DIGEPOL thb.ough';Captain Vegas, a.DIGEPOL member. According to EL POPULAR, the;.bodies of SotoRojas and Trino Barrios, riddled with machinegun bullets, were found by relatives after a search of several jails in Caracas and other cities..: Then the newspaper states that the antiguerrilla operations of the Army, National Guard, and the DIGEPOL "in several peasant areas are conducted with the advice of the U.S. military mission in Venezuela and that in many cases the actions a t the guerrillas and peasants are personally led by U.S.'military agents and CIA embers.".
