Taylor to- day prepared for his first assignment as President Ken- nedy's new- adviser on intelli- gence and military affairs -- what to do in Berlin. Mr. Kennedy told the schol- arly former paratroop com- mander yesterday to begin work Saturday. His first assignment is, to review Unit- ed States planning in the Ber- lin crisis. In announcing Gen. Tay- lor's appointment, the White House said he would be a presidential watchdog in the intelligence field, and would not be interposed between Mr. Kennedy and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, National Security Council or the Ce tral Agency.
