SEN. MILTON R. ,YOUNG (R., N. D.), one of
the few outside the Central Intelligence Agency who'
are well informed on its necessarily secretive opera-"
tions, reveals that our spy system abroad includes
Communist Party officials.
Since Red leaders are not laggard in this fur-'
tive field, it may be 'presumed their activities have
f. not overlooked free world political echelons as pos-
sible channels of information.
Espionage is not a nice profession, 'but a vital
dice. The double-cross and triple-cross are stock in
trade among some of its practitioners. I'h.us, it can
be suspected that some of the Communist officials
;'assumed to be our undercover agents may- be, in,
fact, ~lants. On the other hand, it may:.be that they,
really give tongue-in-chee'lt loyalty to Communism
J 'and do provide us the assistance we seek.
