1. Attached hereto the outlines and guides for Economic
Intelligence applicable to all phases of the Soviet economy
which I discussed with you last Friday and which may offer some
suggestions to you.
2. The specific subjects covered are:
(a) Analysis of Production and P.equirements (applicable
to all raw materials and end products)
(b) electric Power
(C)
(d) Production Equipment and 1achinery
(e) Transportation (Rail, Motor, ',Mater, etc.)

(h) Area Analyses (USSR and Satellites)
3. These outlines were generally approved(at the time they
,;ere drain-n u) by all concerned. They were submitted as -art of a
comprehensive program proposed by me dated 15 March 1950, and a
selection from the latter dated 1 June 1950. The latter incidentally
preceded and was the prototype of 181-1I (-uniti.ons Board Project).
