On 20 January 1964 General Flickinger screened he Air Force records of the 14 prospective pilot candi- date who will eventually comprise the Group D OXCART pilots. Records screened by General Flickinger were solely the official Air Force personnel folder for each officer. 2. From this preliminary screening General Flick- inger selected eight officers whom he identified as excellent prospects Of the remaining six he indicated that he felt two or three were almost totally unaccept- able and the remaining three or four were what he des.. cribed as marginal. 3. General Flickinger intends to contact the eight individuals who were his first choice either at Edwards AFB or Nellie Aft prior to the time they are scheduled into the School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks APB. With the aid of the results of the background investiga- tion which he will review before he sees the individualep and their complete medical records, which they will have with them at the time of his interview, he feels he can make a firm evaluation of the candidates' desire for our program and the likelihood of their qualifying for the program. Five of these eight individuals are believed to be presently stationed at or near Nftards APB. One of the remaining three is presently assigned to Yokota Air Base, Japan, and two are in the v!cinitg of Nellie AFB. These latter three he would interview at Nellie. 4.
