2.1 Advised Jim Gehrig, Staff Director of the Senate
Space Committee, that Mr. Duckett, DD/S&T, would be pleased to brief
Chairman Moss and Gehrig on the Soviet space program at Headquarters on
the 19th of January as Gehrig had requested. We set the time for 10:00 a. m.
and the Senator has accepted our invitation that he stay for lunch. Gehrig
raised the question of having Senator Moss' Administrative Assistant,
Mr. Kem Gardner, sit in on the briefing. I told him it was contrary to our
policy to grant access to this type of information to personal staff members
and suggested to Gehrig that the briefing be limited to the Senator and himself
in view of the sensitivity involved. Gehrig said he would explain this to the
Senator.
