Approved For Release 2006/09/25 CIA-RDP75B00380R000100050071-2 SECRET JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Thursday - 19 July 1973 1. I uIn the absence of Representative Lee Hamilton (D. , Ind. ), delivered General Walters' letter to Miss Valerie Schurman, Hamilton's Legislative Secretary, and left a message for him that I would be pleased to arrange a briefing at his convenience. Miss Schurman will call me. 2. Received a call from General Raymond Furlong, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Legislative Affairs), who told me that his office will be providing Volume II, Parts 1 and 2, of the Defense Human Resources Intelligence Collection Management Manual (DIHUMs) to Jim Woolsey, Senate Armed Services Committee, today. It is his understanding that Woolsey is working directly with George Carver, SAVA. :[t is General Furlong's belief that Parts 1 and 2 of Volume II cover all of the material of interest to Woolsey. I thanked him for his assistance. o- 3. I I Talked to Ralph Preston, House Appr , priations Committee stall, concerning debriefing of Representative John J. c a M., a i . on is recent trip to China. Preston said he saw no objection whatsoever. DD/DCS, has been advised. 4.1 Met with Chairman Lucien Nedzi, House Subcommittee on Intelligence, and reviewed with him the content of Volume III, Documentation Provided by CIA. Nedzi was somewhat incredulous that we were providing at this late date, among other things, a long series of documents for inclusion in the "Justice package" which had been furnished the Committee on the very first meeting. None of the other documents appeared to be of any particular problem. I also briefed him on the sensitive annex to Volume III, some of the items Nedzi remembered from prior briefings by Mr. Colby and by this office. A time will be scheduled tomorrow for meeting with him to brief him on the final portion of the sensitive package which consists of the 25X1A (Angleton documents relating to the "Hoover Committee. " Nedzi asked that I be sure and go over these matters with Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel of the Committee, as soon as possible. CRC, 7/19/2003 y"' ?
