In response to his inquiry I advised Bob Allnutt, Senate Space Committee, that at the request of Chairman Anderson Senators Goldwater and Weiker were briefed by Carl Duckett on the Soviet space program in March 1971. I also confirmed that Charles Lombard, of the Committee staff, has been cleared for compartmented information. 3. I I Met with George Mahon, Chairman, House Appro?pria ions ommi et.ad obtained his approval to extract his remarks commending Helms in the executive meeting of the Defense and Military Construction Subcommittees briefing of 16 January. We were joined by Represenative Elford A. Cederberg (R. , Mich. ). In brief, Mahon stated that he and Cederberg, who is now the senior Republican on the Appropriations Committee, will be working very closely together. Mahon asked that I work with Cederberg as I have in the past with him and the late Representative Bow. 4.
