Domenici (R. , N. Mex.). She said a helicopter company in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico (she did not recall the name of the company) has asked their office whom they should contact in CIA regarding their interest in air contracts in Southeast Asia and elsewhere in the Far East. The inquirer made reference to Air America in this connection. After checking with I suggested to Miss Lakeheart that any inquiry concerning Air America should be directed to Mr. Paul C. Velte, President of Air America, at 1725 K Street, Washington, D. C. I added that any correspondence directed to the Agency should be addressed to the Director. She said she was sure the name and address of the Air America office would be sufficient. 7. Jim Calloway, Senate Appropriations Committee staff, raised with me te possibility of having the Director appear before the Defense Subcommittee for a "threat" briefing some time in the next week to 10 days. See Memorandum for the Record. 8. Accompanied the Director and Messrs. Brownman, is er an who appeared before the Intelligence Subcom- mittee of House Armed Services Committee, in support of legislation to increase our CIARDS retirement quota. I I Accompanied the Director in a meeting with Senator Stuart Symington who, as acting Chairman of the Senate Armed Com- mittee in the absence of Senator Stennis, agreed to hold hearings of the full Armed Services Committee at 10:00 a. m. on 5 April, on legislation to increase the CIARDS retirement quota. Symington said he would appreciate our checking into the history of legislation a couple years ago imposing a manpower ceiling on the Defense Intelligence Agency.
