Received a call from Austin Smith, House Appropriations Committee staff, concerning current employment prospects in the Agency for a Russian linguist. Since the request had originated with a member of the Appropriations Committee, I told Smith that employment prospects at the present time were not good but that if the constituent desired to apply, he should contacti OP. 25X1 2. Talked to Mike Van Dusen, Near East Subcommittee staff, House Foreign Affairs Committee, and confirmed with him an off-the-record briefing for the Subcommittee for Friday, 23 February, 9:30 a. m. at Headquarters. Van Dusen and I will work out the transportation details next week, 25X1 3. Met with Chairman Lucien Nedzi, Intelligence Operations Subcommittee of House Armed Services Committee, and briefed him on some intelligence items and also on the allegations regarding the Agency made by Seymour Hersh of the New York Times.
