10, I Met with Herb Hoffman, Counsel,
House Judiciary Committee, and gave him a copy of a blind memo entitled
"Explanation of Proposed Amendments to Reform Commission's Revision
of the Federal Criminal Code, " This completes the original package of
documents given Hoffman earlier to read him in on the intelligence community
problems in the Brown Commission criminal code revisions. Hoffman will
have the major staff responsibility in the Judiciary Committee for consideration
of the criminal code revision.
11. Delivered to Dorothy Fosdick, Senate
Permanent Investigating Subcommittee staff, a translation of a document
"Cumulation of the Structural Disproportions in Soviet Economy" by Vadim D.
Meniker which she had requested. See Journal of 31 January 1973.
12. Met with Fran Christy, House Judiciary
Committee staff, and received from her a copy of the Subcommittee assignments
of members together with the staff counsel assignments,
13. Met with Justine Snipes, House Post
Office and Civil Service Committee, and received from her a copy of the
assignment of Democratic members to subcommittees. Assignment of
Republicans is pending. These assignments reflect the new subcommittee
structure of the House Post Office and Civil Service Committee.
14. Met with James Wilson, House Science and
Astronautics Committee staff, and briefed him on a possible future space
event.
15. Met with Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel,
House Armed Services Committee, and gave him a set of documents including
a fact sheet on the training of New York City policemen. Slatinshek asked
that I be sure and brief. Chairman Nedzi, Intelligence Subcommittee, and
provide him with a set of the documents and newspaper clippings when he
returns to the city. By the present schedule, Nedzi is expected back on
Thursday.
16. Met briefly with Susan McMahon, Assistant
to Art Kuhl, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, and arranged with
her to pick up a copy of the transcript of Richard Helms' meeting with the
Committee this morning.
