10. (Confidential -JMM) Called Cliff Hackett, House Foreign
Affairs Committee staff, to say that OCI, and I would meet
with Chairmen Rosenthal and Hamilton, et al of the European and Near East
Subcommittees at 10:00 a, m. , on Thursday, 13 September to discuss the
present situation in Greece. Hackett said they were interested in the
significance of recent political changes, the long-term future prospects,
the Greek role in the eastern Mediterranean and in NATO, and internal
stresses and strains including student activity.
:11. (Confidential -JMM) Called Chairman Lucien Nedzi, Intelligence
Subcomm_i_ttee_of House Armed Services Committee, to say Bill Colby would
be glad to meet with him at his convenience to discuss a number o.f pending
items including NSCIDs, SAT, reorganization of ONE, etc. Nedzi appreciated
the offer and said he would like to discuss these matters before the full
Subcommittee but the Subcommittee was completely preoccupied .for
the rest _of this week with preparation of their report on Watergate, etc.
He said he would call next week when they could find time to schedule this.
He added that at present he is particularly interested in hearing our plans ,
for ONE and the status of the SAT matter.
