STATINTL
Fi. (Unclassified - RJK) Accompanied OL, to the
House Armed Services hearing rooms so that he could view the Agency
seals on display there. Logistics is planning to have a new bronzed
version of the seal made for distribution to highly selected group of STATINTL
recipients. ~sked me how many this office would need for dis-
tributioxi to our friends on the Hill. I told him I would bring the matter
to Mr. Maury's attention and be back in touch with him.
Ei. (Unclassified -PLC) Called George Winett, State Legislative
Liaison, and asked if they had yet replied to a letter from a constituent
from Montana, which Senator Mike Mansfield had received and sent to
State for investigation. I explained that the constituent sent a copy of
Mansfield's reply to him and other correspondence to Representative
Richard Shoup (R. , Mont. ). Shoup has submitted the package to CIA
for action. The constituent urges that the Senate investigate the over-
throw o9' Diern in Vietnam and CIA's alleged involvement. Winett in-
formed me that State had replied to Mansfield and merely commented that
any investigation would be a matter for the Senate itself to consider.
