(Unclassified - JGO) Picked up copies of Senator Jackson's (D. , Wash.) press release concerning Government Operations Committee hearings on the grain sale. 2. (Internal Use Only - JGO) In response to the call of yesterday, STATSPEC met with Dorothy Fosdick and Judith Spahr, Permanent Investigations Subcommittee staff, Senate Government Operations Committee, who asked what arrangements could be made for procurement of the on the Soviet Union for a private individual and whether this publication will now STATSPEC be available for purchase. After checking with I advised the office that the Soviet book is now available at $75. 00 a year to the general public from the National Technical Information Service. A brochure will be forwarded to Miss Fosdick on Monday. 3. (Internal Use Only - JGO) Met with Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, and in response to his request of yesterday, gave him a copy of the Colby Symington letter concerning the Washington Post Stern article of 10 July. Slatinsehk requested our views for use with Armed Services Committee members. 4. (Confidential - GLC) Went by the Senate Armed Services Committee for the purpose of correcting the Committee's copy of the Agency's portion of the 27 June hearing on Laos/MASF. The Committee was in session and I was unable to gain access to an extra copy of the transcript so it was agreed that I would Xerox our copy of the transcript with corrections and send it to the Committee early next week.
