4. (Confidential - JGO) Met with Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel,
House Armed Services Committee. who told me the present plan is for
d6parture,wQdnesday night for twenty some members of the Committee
for Athens, Tel Aviv and Cairo returning on Saturday, 24 November. He
told me we could cancel the previous request for Committee briefings but
25X1 C Chairman Nedzi, Intelligence Subcommittee, would appreciate being contacted
5. (Confidential - JGO) Met with Ralph Preston, Staff Assistant,
House Appropriations Committee, and delivered to him the academic
training report for FY 1969 through 1973. After reviewing the report, Preston
asked if we would supplement it with a breakdown of the disciplines covered in
the full time training. , OTR, has been advised.
Preston told me the Committee will be reporting the Defense appropriation
bill to the House on 26 November after their return from the Thanksgiving
recess.
Preston noted in passing that the Middle East atlas had been well-
received and asked if we could provide twelve more copies for Committee use.
Preston told me that no consideration was given to the intelligence
community as an entity in final mark-up of the Defense budget although a small
amount of R&D money was taken from DIA, the reductions assessed were
overall percentages to DOD for application by DOD to the various Defense
agencies. Some small amount was also taken from Cryptological Services.

25X1A 6, (Unclassified - JGO) In meeting with Ralph Preston, House
Appropriations Committee staff, he told me he had discussed the letter from
Representative Robert Tiernan to the Administrator of NASA concerning
possible duplication and other matters concerning the technology and coordina-
tion methodology between NASA and DOD on observation satellites. Chairman
Morgan has taken the matter under advisement. Preston will get back with
him tomorrow and see if he could get guidance for us at that time. Dr.
, DDS&T, has been advised.
