Approved For Release 2003SI;?RDP75B00380R000100110055-3 JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Friday - 2 November 1973 2 M41A 1. - JMM) Accompanied Carl Duckett and in a meeting with Senator Stuart Symington (D., Mo.) and Ed Braswell, Chief Counsel, Senate Armed Services Committee, at which we brought the Senator and Braswell up-to-date on a sensitive development in the Middle East over the past several days. We also reviewed with the Senator briefly plans for the Director's briefing of the Central Intelligence Subcommittee of Armed Services Committee at 10 a. m. on Tuesday, 6 November 1973. Later I discussed the above with Braswell who said he wasn't sure who would be present but in any event the Director should limit his prepared remarks to some 30 or 40 minutes briefly summarizing: 25X1 B Braswell said Senator Stennis had pressed Symington to limit the briefing to the Intelligence Subcommittee rather than the full Committee but Stennis himself might not be present and that Symington would preside. In the absence of Senator Stennis I asked Braswell to bring the Senator up-to-date on the Middle East development at his first opportunity. He agreed to do this. 25X1 2. II- JMM) In the absence of Senator Jackson, Mr. Duckett and I talked with Dorothy Fosdick, of his staff, and left word that develop- ments regarding an item on which I had briefed the Senator on Wednesday were not as ominous as had first appeared. Miss Fosdick said that she had learned--not from Senator Jackson'--of the information which we referred to and would pass our latest information on to the Senator.
