7. - JGO) Met with J. Sourwine, Chief Counsel,
Senate Internal Security Subcommittee, and discussed with him Lothar
Metzl's paper on "Detente in the Revoluntionary Process" which was published
as a Committee document some two years ago. In brief, Sourwine suggested
if additional copies are required, they should be procured directly through the
public printer who has authority to print additional copies without further
action on the part of the Senate. 1 -1 CI staff, has been advised.
3, JGO) Met with Paul Goulding, Executive Assistant
to Senator Claiborne Pell (D. , R. I.), who told me that Dave McKillup,
Legislative Assistant to the Senator, will be away on vacation for the next
two weeks. On his return, Goulding will arrange a meeting to discuss with
him the Senator's proposals for a joint committee on intelligence.
9. - JGO) A brief check with the offices of Chairmen
Hebert, House Armed Services Committee, and George Mahon, House
Appropriations Committee, indicates that both gentlemen will be out of the
city until approximately Labor Day.
10. LLM) Discussed with Kathy Nelson, Assistant to
Senator Stuart Symington (D. , Mo. ), our workup on the galleys on Mr. Colby's
confirmation hearings. I agreed with Miss Nelson that there was no need
to delete Kissinger's title with the 40 Committee inasmuch as Mr. Colby had
given similar information in open session. In response to my query, Miss
Nelson will raise with Symington the deletion of __]name from a
question by Symington.
