JMM) Senator Symington, Acting Chairman, Senate Armed Services Committee, called to request community budget figures which he has promised to show Senator William Proxmire (D. , Wis. ). 9. - JMM) I discussed the above with Ed Braswell, Chief Counsel, Senate Armed Services Committee, and agreed to submit the figures through him. 10. JMM) Ambassador Helms called to say he had talked to Senator Stennis, Chairman, Senate Armed Services Committee, who wanted his recommendations for someone to work on the Committee staff in rrreparing legislation. affecting the Agency. I said I `would discuss with Larry Houston, OGC, and others the various possibilities. 11. - PLC) Called Dan Garrison, Administrative Assistant to Senator Strom Thurmond (R., S. C.), and advised him of the a rrangements for a constituent, 1 1, to be interviewed for possible employment by OP, this afternoon. Garrison had called Mr. Colby earlier J_ Fl the morning requesting an interview. 12. II .LLM) Spoke with Jim Woolsey, General Counsel, Senate Armed Services Committee, and advised him that the sensitive version of the answers to the questions posed to Mr. Colby in connection with his confirmation would be in his hands later in the day. He said that the hearings and questions and answers would be published hopefully within the next 2 weeks. He suggested as soon as the galleys are received by the Committee, I come down to review them before they are sent to the printers.
