7? William Hogan, Counsel to the Special
Subcommittee on intelligence, House Armed Services Committee, called to
say they were having some discussion of jurisdictional problems between the
House Armed Services Committee and the House Government Operations
Committee and wondered if we could provide him with background which
would be helpful on this point. I called I who said he had the
background material and would discuss it with Hogan,
8. Jim Woolsey, Senate Armed Seryi es C"nrn
mittee sta.f, called to say Senator Stuart Symington plans a press conference
.at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at which he will disclose some of the information
developed at this morning's hearing of the full Senate Armed Services Com-
mittee. I reviewed with Woolsey the followup questions from that hearing and
he said he would examine the record and call me back to clarify the questions
raised so that we would be sure our answers are fully responsive.

House Armed Services Committee, and filled him in on what had transpired
this morning at Senate Armed Services. He said that they would like to get
General Walters up before the Nedzi Subcommittee at the first opportunity.
After consulting General Walters, I called Slatinshek back to explain
the General would be tied up with the grand jury tomorrow. Slatinshek
suggested we set aside Wednesday for the General's appearance, He asked
why the points covered by the General had not been covered earlier by the
Director. I said at the time the Director appeared the General was out of
town and the Director, I was sure, was not familiar with the details the
General was able to provide,
Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, and briefed him on the Senate
Armed Services Committee hearing of Friday afternoon. Slatinshek told
me that they had additional questions concerning the McCord allegations
about attempts to involve CIA but the time ran out during the morning
before they got to them.
11. I Received a call from Jack Blum, Multinational
Corporations Subcommittee staff, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who
told me that he is going to be travelling to the Far East for the Committee.
He asked if arrangements could be made for briefings prior to departure
and in the field. , FE Division, has been advised.
