Operations Committee, regarding proposals which have been advanced of
interest to the Agency. Roback said he would like any further ideas we
have on the degree of sensitivity of material the Committee would be dealing
with if Committee inquiry should develop. I told him I would give this some
thought and be back in touch with him.

witness in the Ellsberg case. I said that Justice feels testimony is
essential to.tlleir case and we might find it difficult not to cooperate in this.
I told him I was merely alerting him to this possibility and suggested he
mention this to the Chairman. He said he would do so.

for his help in expediting Committee action on our retirement legislation.
At the same time I alerted Nedzi to the possibility that in respond'

to a pressing Justice Department request we might be forced to make

be to refute the defense contention that the disclosure of some of the Pentagon
papers was of no value to the enemy and hence could have caused no damage
to the U. S.
