10. Appeared before the Special Subcommittee
on Intelligence of the House Armed Services Committee in support of an
amendment to the Agency retirement act. The Subcommittee unanimously
reported out to the full Committee the bill recently passed by the Senate
(S. 1494) which meets all the Agency requirements. See transcript.
11. Discussed with Chairman F. Edward
Hebert and Frank SLatinshek, House Armed Services Committee, the request
of Representative Ben Blackburn (R., Ga.) for classified Agency
economic studies. They agreed that we offer Mr. Blackburn an oral briefing
but not deliver the studies.
12. Ed Braswell, Chief Counsel, Senate
Armed Services Committee, called to express some concern over recent
developments involving the AjTe-ncy, including Senator Proximire's request
that budget and personnel figures be made public. I agreed to meet with
Braswell later in the day to discuss the matter in detail,
