Approved For Release 2005/06/01 ,PI?AjRP,R1 5B00380R000200110013-8 JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Tuesday - 27 November 1973 25X1 25X1 25X1A 1. 1 = In response to his request yesterday which had been made on instructions from Senator Howard Baker (R., Tenn. ), I met today and W&C Q13 Atomic- wit showed him the sensitive supplement to Volume III of our "Documentation Provided by CIA" in connection with the Watergate hearings. See Memorandum for the Record. 2. About mid-morning I received a call from Marian Czarnecki, Chief of Staff, House Foreign Affairs Committee, who said that Chairman Morgan had ok'd our briefing of the Europe Subcommittee. He said Roger Davies was coming up at 1:30 p. m. today and Cliff Hackett, of the Subcommittee staff, wondered if ould come up at the same time. I told Czarnecki that I was not sure as to a status of II health 25X1A since he had been out sick yesterday. Further, we generally prefer not to participate in joint briefing sessions but I would check on this and talk further with Hackett as Czarnecki had suggested. Czarnecki mentioned that we needed to "pin down" our procedures regarding the briefing of their subcommittees. He said it had come to his attention that we had been doing some of this without the Chairman or him knowing about it. I told Czarnecki that I recalled several instances, particularly concerning Representative Hamilton's Subcommittee on Near East and South Asia where several members of the Subcommittee had asked to come to the Agency for informal briefing sessions, not as Subcommittee meetings. However, he agreed this was a grey area in our procedure and it would be useful to have an understanding of it. Czarnecki and I plan to get together and discuss this very soon.
