Foreign Relations Committee staff, the declassified OSS documents requested
for use in the Committee study on Indochina. Blum said he would review
them as soon as possible since some appear to be quite fuzzy and not usable
without reference to the originals. In particular he asked if another copy
could be made of the Giap calling card and the hand-written note on the back

9. (Confidential - JMM) Explained to Chairman Nedzi, Intelligence
Operations Subcommittee of House Armed Services Committee, and Representative
Samuel Stratton, a member of the Committee, the status of the plans for the
Director's retirement and appointment as Ambassador to Iran. Both expressed
deep regret at confirmation of the reports that the Director was departing and
sought reassurances that the integrity of the Agency could be maintained in
the future.
