(Confidential - JGO) Received a call from Dorothy Fosdick, Assistant to Senator Henry M. Jackson (D. , Wash.). She asked whether there was any determination on the personnel case the Senator had asked about. I told her that with the Colby nomination on the floor this afternoon this case is being held in abeyance until tomorrow. I promised to call her some time during the day tomorrow. 2. (Confidential - JGO) Talked to Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, and briefed him on current status of Southern AirTransport case and the Jack Anderson column of 31 July. Mr. Slatinshek has no word yet when the Intelligence Subcommittee brief- ing originally scheduled for last Friday will be re-scheduled. STATINTL 3, (Confidential - JGO) Talked withi who told me that little had happened during the day on the Symington request for information concerning military officer personnel assigned outside the Department of Defense for duty. 4. (Confidential - GLC) Hand-carried to Kathy Nelson, on the staff of Senator Stuart Symington, a letter from Mr. Colby to the Senator commenting on the Tammy Arbuckle column of 31 July. (A copy of this letter was also left with Jim Woolsey, Senate Armed Services Committee staff. ) 5. (Confidential - GLC) Returned to Jim Woolsey Copy 6 (sanitized and corrected) of the transcript of Mr. Colby's executive session meeting with the Senate Armed Services Committee on 25 July. STATOTHR 6. (Confidential - GLC) Chris Winters, Senate Pre aredness Investi- gating staff, said that if we wished to contact him in connection with closing out his Agency clearances.
