1, Accompanied Messrs.
who appeared before the Intelligence Subcommittee of House Armed
Services Committee, in support of an amendment to the Agency retirement
legislation bringing it into line with recently revised Civil Service benefits.

2. Discussed with- -qarr-f rtf of '-h- Nam
John Warner the problem of Senator Howard Baker's continued concern over
possibly as yet unidentified Agency involvement in the Watergate matter.
Warner who is a close friend of Baker could throw no light on the matter
but said he would see if he could ollicit from Baker some indication of his
interest.
3. Accompanied the Director to call on
Chairman Lucien Nedzi, Intelligence Subcommittee of House Armed Services
Committee, but at the last minute the Chairman found himself tied up on the
floor and had to beg off. However the Director spoke to him on the phone,
thanking him for his recent public statements.
4. In the absence of Representative
William Minshall, I left with Pat Coombe, of his staff, a check reimbursing
him for expenses he incurred in connection with official travel to Latin
America on Agency business.
5. Received a call from Edna Johnson,, House
Armed Services Committee staff, requesting twenty additional copies of the
Director's letter to the Chairman concerning H. R. 4294 and H. R. 6364
which provide additional retirement benefits for certain members of the
armed forces and certain Federal employees. The additional copies are
needed for responses back to the 19 cosponsors of the legislation.
