Pettibone: I write-to acknowledge correspondence sent to the Central Intelligence Agency by the Interagency Advisory Group on 16 July 1973 on the matter concerning reemployed annuitants. I also make reference to a telephone conver- sation between you and me on the same subject on 26 July. As I mentioned to Mr. Rosen earlier on the 26th of July, Section 6 of the Central Intelligence Agency Act of 1949, as amended, states in part that "the Director of Central Intelligence shall, be responsible for protecting intelligence sources and methods from unauthorized disclo- sure, the Agency shall be exempted from the provisions of section 654 of Title. 5, and the provisions of any other law which require the publication or disclosure of the organiza- tion, functions, names, official titles, salaries, or numbers of personnel employed by the Agency." In consonance with that statute, we are unable to furnish the requested infor- mation. C. 20505 Senator Mike Mansfield, Majority Leader of the Senate, and Representative Thaddeus J. Dulski, Chairman of the House Committee on Post Office and Civil Service, have both expressed concern about the reemployment by the Government of employees retired under the Civil Service Retirement System, and have asked the Commission for certain information. In response to these requests, the Commission is undertaking a study. The information for this study is needed promptly and is available only through the cooperation of all Federal agencies. Name. 2. Date of birth (month, day, year). 3. Social Security Account Number. 4. Agency from which retired (only if different from agency in which reemployed). 5. Service computation date. 6. Type of retirement: a. Optional. b. Early Optional (Major RIF). c, Involuntary-discontinued.service retirement. d. Disability. e. Mandatory. 7. Type of appointment action taken in reemploying the annuitant. 8. Work schedule:. a. Full-time b. Intermittent. - c. Part-time. - 9. Expected duration of reemployi& nt : a. Less than three months. b.'Three to six months. c. Six to twelve months. d. Over one year. 10. Annual basic pay rate at time of retirement. 11. Annual basic pay rate at which reemployed (if pay is on a basis other than annual, indicate applicable basis, e.g., per hour, per diem, fee basis, etc.). 12. Annuity rate currently used for reducing the reemployment pay by the amount of annuity (or authority for exemption .From such reduction if applicable. -,rt II.
