Approved For Release 2006/12/15: CIA-RDP75B00380R000400120072-0 Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Page 5 Tuesday 13 March 1973 14. Mae Sykes, USIA Congressional Liaison, called 25X1 on a request from the office of Representative John Dellenback (R. , Oreg. ) on behalf of the ill mother of Robert Snoddy, pilot of the plane which carried Downey and Fecteau, to learn if the channel which had been used to effect Downey's release could be used for Snoddy. Based on m conversations with Personnel, FE, and SSA /DDS;, I told 26X1 Sykes that there must be some garble since the best evidence is that Snoddy, along with his co-pilot, Norman Schwartz, perished in the plane when it went down and the next of kin were no doubt notified of that fact, and that she might want to check with Miss Dougall, in State, who has been deeply involved in the Downey and Fecteau cases. I told Sykes that Snoddy was employed by CAT and that while I was trying to find out for her the channel of communica- tion that had been used with the next of kin, it may be necessary to refer the matter to Air America which has the CAT files. 15. Bill Schneider, in the office of Senator 25X1 James Buckley (R., N. Y.), called to advise that he was leaving town for the rest of the week and I told him we would get in touch with him on Monday. This concerns a matter of interest to SB Division. 16. Accompanied the Director and Messrs. 25X1 Colby and Shac { ey to a meeting of our joint Senate Subcommittees regarding the Chilean elections and ITT at which Senator Church was present. See Memorandum for the Record. 17. Following the Director's briefing of the Senate 25X1 CIA Subcommittees with Senator Church in attendance, Bill Woodruff, Senate Appropriations Committee staff, raised a question about apparent inconsistencies between the figures which Ted Shackley gave for expenditures in Chile in 1970 and Woodruff's records of Reserve withdrawals. Shackley said he thought this could be easily explained but we agreed to look into it and be back in touch. cc: JOHN M.
