SUBJECT: Request from State to Furnish Senate Commerce Committee
Classified CIA Documents
1. The attached request was forwarded b
2. I suggested tha call Wilgis, the State officer,
and inform him that we do not provide Senate with copies
of our reports and cannot meet their request. I agreed, but
to assist Wilgis, he said he would offer to prepare
briefing papers for State to brief the Committee. The matters are no
higher than Confidential. I could see no problems.
3. It appears that we can stay completely out of this one but if
State presses us to brief the Committee (prior to their departure on
14 April), will let us know.
