Approved For Release 2006/12116 :CIA-RDP75B00380R000400140017-9 JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Thursday - 4 October 1973 1. (Unclassified -MMC) Received a call from Molly Cohen., Administrative Assistant to Representative William Moorhead (D, , Pa. ), who asked if a personnel interview could be set up for one of their c;onstituents, for some time today, if at all possible. After checking with OP, I told Miss Cohen that could see any time this morning at his convenience. Miss Cohen thanked me and said she would send over right away. 2, (Internal Use Only -MMC) Received a call from Eddie, in Mrs, Jane Davis' office, NSC, who told me there will be a Legislative Interdepartmental Group meeting on Tuesday, 9 October, at 2:00 p, rn. in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, She dictated the following agenda: 1) Defense Authorization Conference and Appropriations bills; 2) Foreign Assistance Act Conference; 3) War Powers bill; 4) State Authorization; and 5) USIA. Authorization, 25X1 ~~~ 25X1 25X1 3, (Confidential - JGO) In response to his call, I met with Garner J. Cline, Subcommittee No. 1, House Judiciary Committee, who told me that Lewis Hoffacker, Special Assistant to the Secretary and Coordinator for Combating Terrorism, Department of State, met with the Committee this week and briefed them on terrorism. Of particular interest to the Committee were the events of this week in Austria. Cline asked whether the Agency would have anything material to add to Hoffacker's briefing and if so, would we be willing to provide a briefing in executive session for the Subcommittee which has been assigned responsibility in this area, EA/DDO, 25X1 and CI staff, have been advised, 25X1 Cline told me also that Jack Kubisch, Assistant Secretary of State for Latin American Affairs, has been scheduled for Thursday, 18 October, to testify in executive session on Chile. The Committee is concerned about the refugee bill introduced by Senator Kennedy to provide for parole of Chileans -and other persons who have been displaced by the ?present military.r.egime in Chile. In response to his request I told him that we would have little to add to the State briefing that the matter of numbers and types of persons would be within State Department responsibility. No further action is required on this item.
