4. (Internal Use Only - LLM) Received a call from Bob Hull,
State Department, to discuss a technical retirement act amendment involving
payment into the appropriate Fund for leave without pay while a Federal
employee serves in a Federal employee union.
Hull had no feel on the possibility of a veto of the new Civil Service
Lo"R'etirement amendment restoring the full annuity in the event the intended
beneficiary of a survivor annuity pre-deceases the principal.
He is standing at the ready but does not anticipate that there will be
hearings in the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the omnibus Foreign
to'S,rvice retirement amendments.
5. (Internal Use Only - LLM) Called Fran Temko, in the office of
Representative Bella Abzug (D. N. Y. and closed inquiry on
possible Agency contracts with th Ms. Temko
was understanding of the underlying rationale of our no comment policy.

Interior and Insular Affairs Committee staff, who asked if the Agency could
provide any current statistics price and volumes of Soviet export and

8. (Confidential - JGO) Received a call from Everett E. Bierman,
House Foreign Affairs Committee staff, who asked if I would drop by the
first of the week to discuss a problem posed by Representative Vernon W.
Thomson (R. , Wis.).
9. (Confidential - JGO) Received a call from Geoffrey B. Shields,
Subcommittee on Multinational Corporations, Senate Foreign Relations
Committee staff, concerning petrodollar and Euro currency markets. He
is particularly interested in the current flow of funds coming into the
Euro dollar market and disposition of these funds. After consultation with
OER, I will try to turn Shields'request to the Treasury
