Approved For Release 2001/08/30 : CIA-RDP75B00380 JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Wednesday - 3 July 1974 CIA INTERNAL USE ONLY, 1. (Internal Use Only - PLC) Called Sam Goldberg, Office of Legislative Liaison, Department of State, and informed him of our problems with the Senator James Abourezk (D. , S. Dak.) amendment toxS. 3394_~which amends the Foreign Assistance Act and is now pending in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The amendment is intended to prohibit the U. S. training of foreign police but is so broadly stated that it seriously affects the Agency training of foreign liaison services. I asked Goldberg State's position on the amendment. He said he will check and let me know. 2. (Unclassified - DFM) Called Bill Shattuck, Counsel, Subcommittee on Claims and Governmental Relations, House Committee on the Judiciary, regarding--U--'R----7-131;-,A This bill would increase the maximum amount payable by the overnment to an employee for personal property damage in moving the employee to $12, 000 from the present $6, 500. He informed me that the Subcommittee had received generally favorable responses from the Department of State and the Department of Defense, but that the Department of Defense is pushing for a $15, 000 maximum. He expects the Subcommittee to act on the bill after the bill of impeachment is disposed of by the full Judiciary Committee. 3. (Unclassified - GLC) Called Jack Ticer, Senate Armed Services Committee staff, and told him that in response to Ed Braswell's question concerning mention of the oversight Subcommittees in the Baker report, the section titled "Action Required" really pertained to the oversight Sub- committees. Ticer will pass this on to Braswell.
