(Confidential - JGO) Picked up from Mike Finley, Inter-American Affairs Subcommittee staff, on personal loan a copy of the executive session transcript of 25 September 1973 of the testimony by Jack B. Kubisch, Assistant Secretar of State for Latin American Affairs, on United States Chilean policy. WH Division, have been advised. 2. (Internal Use Only - JGO) Talked to Al Westphal, House Foreign Affairs Committee staff, who told me that the status of the various Senate .bills relating to foreign aid, although somewhat more hopeful than a couple of months ago, is still uncertain. The Senate will probably take up S. 2335's economic portion next week. S. 1443 (the combined military and economic bill passed by the House) is being held in abeyance by the Senate pending action on S. 2335. 3. (Internal Use Only - JGO) In response to Mr. Houston's, OGC, request, cancelled the meeting for this afternoon on Southern Air Transport with Herb Roback. Staff Director, House Government Operations Committee. The meeting will be rescheduled early next week. 5. (Unclassified - GLC) Attempted to see Janice Brodsky, on the staff of Senator J. Glenn Beall (R., Md.), regarding an inquiry the Senator has received from a constituent regarding possible Agency involvement in the recent coup in Chile. Ms. Brodsky is on leave for the balance of this week so I will try to see her again on Monday. 6. (Secret - JMM) Accompanied the Director who appeared before Senators McClellan and Young and began to cover with them the contents of the NSCIDs, but was interrupted by a quorum call early in his presentation. The Director also took advantage of the occasion to explain briefly to the Senators details of a sensitive covert operation which involved withdrawal from Reserves and in which they had expressed an interest.
