I I Called Alan Parker, Counsel, Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Constitutional Rights, House Judiciary Committee, advising him that the Agency comments on the four criminal justice bills which we discussed on 30 April were being forwarded to OMB. He agreed to contact me concerning the accommodation of our views through modification of language at the appropriate time. 2. I I Spoke with George Murphy, Joint Committee on Atomic Energy staff, and told him that I had worked out an addendum to the 1 February 1974 agreement concerning access to our transcripts and documents for Liebengood and Madigan, Senate Select Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities staff, in response to Madigan's call yesterday on behalf of Senator Baker. Murphy said Madigan is out of town for the weekend and recommended that I drop by Senator Baker's office on Monday with the agreement and that he (Murphy) would advise Madigan of my call. 3.1 I Called Paul Summitt, Subcommittee on Criminal Laws and roceduraff, Senate Judiciary Committee, on the report of the rrp-t-dr-m ^-F Tn;r%"T"ni-4r%n hill and he said he hadn't seen the language of t e report but that he was sure that the language of the bill had been changed and comments had been inserted in the Committee report as we had requested. Summitt opined that we may have difficulty with the House conferees who feel that Senator Kennedy has sold them out. 4. Talked with Tom Smith, FBI, and told him that since Marvin Gentile, State Department, was away today and I would be on leave for the next two weeks, Gentile and I thought it best if he (Smith) contacts Gentile directly to review the Bureau's objections to State's proposed report to the Muskie Subcommittee on Surveillance. Smith said he would be glad to do this. If he has any problems he will advise (Our coordination on the State report has been handled through the Office of Security.)
