Approved For Release 2005/06/09 : CIA-RDP75B0038OR000700010028-8 Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Monday - 18 November 1974 Page 8 25. Received a call from Pat O'Donnell, Special Assistant to the President, to advise that he had just called Mr. Colby as Chairman John C. Stennis (D. , Miss.) wanted to know the Agency's position before he joined as a co-sponsor and/or signatory of the "Dear Colleague" letter supporting the President's veto of the Freedom of Information Act. It should be easy to refresh the Chairman on the Agency's pose i.on since he took an active part against the Muskie amendment based upon information supplied by the Agency. Referencing our several recent conversations on this subject, O'Donnell asked if we would be able to touch base with Senators Henry Jackson (D. , Wash. ); James McClure (R., Idaho); Gale McGee (D., Wyo.); Hiram Fong (R., Hawaii), and Robert Taft (R. , Ohio) in connection with the effort to sustain the President's veto. I told`O'Donnell we will see what we can do to help out but our definite preference is to limit our activities 'to the membership of 25X1 our committees.
