MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Science and Technology
SUBJECT: Plans for the IPRD Digital Computer
1. This memorandum requests your concurrence with
several actions which ORD proposes to undertake with respect
to the IPRD digital computer.
FY-73. The Agency has a 370/145 on order with IBM which OCS
has agreed can go to ORD. Prior to making this decision, we
explored with OCS the possibility of using one of their purchased
3$0/65's in the IPRD. They have no current plans to release a

before February 1973 at the earliest and will not be completed
before the 370/145 is installed. During this hiatus, the 25X1
files will not be usable and a lapse in the materials program may
result. If this situation becomes unacceptable, we may arrange
with OCS to run on one of their machines during the
second or third s . we -are planning to install an OCS time-
sharing terminal in IPRD to support this shift of Project
to the OCS center, as well as to expand the computational support
for all of ORD.
