The American Enterprise Institute is pleased to invite you to par-
ticipate in the first of its 1972 series of rational debates on the subiect:
"Strategic Sufficiency: Fact or Fiction." The debate will be held in the
Board Room of the American Enterprise Institute, Suite 1200, 1150 17th
Street, N.W., on Thursday, February 24.
Senator James Buckley of New York and Paul Warnke, former Assistant
Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, will be the
principal debaters. After they have presented their papers, our invited
guests will have an opportunity to give their own views or pose questions
to the principals.
Scholars, officials from both the executive and legislative branches
of government, newsmen and businessmen knowledgeable in national security
affairs are being invited.
The program will be taped for television and radio. Last year's
AEI Rational Debates, by the way, are being broadcast on more than 120
educational and commercial television stations and are now being scheduled
for radio. Films of the debates are being shown in some 100 colleges and
universities.
We would be delighted to have you join the senior staff of the Insti-
tute for a reception and dinner preceding the debate. The reception will
commence at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at seven. The debate is scheduled
to commence at 8:00 p.m.
We are inviting a limited number of people. If we have not heard from
you by February 7, we will assume you are unable to attend.
Please telephone your acceptances to Miss Frances McGavin at 296-5616
from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
We are looking forward to seeing you on the evening of Thursday,
February 24.
