MEMORANDUR FOR: Deputy Dir or for Intelligence
In order to keep up-to-date on developments in the USSR which have
a bearing on the recently-concluded SALT agreements, and on strategic
arms limitation in general, I have requested regular routing of relevant
CIA published intelligence issuances. From time to time, however, the
components in your directorates will probably have occasion to write
informal memoranda, addressed to you or the DCI or other recipients,
reporting and analyzing Soviet developments which are SALT-related.
It would help me to do my job if I could receive an information copy
of any such memorandum. Of particular interest are memoranda dealing
with developments which may have a bearing on Soviet compliance with
the recent agreements, or which deal with intelligence programs, plans
or problems directly or uniquely related to the task of monitoring
Soviet compliance. Please request the components in your directorates
to send me a copy of any such memorandum.
