Mr. Richard Helms
Director of Central Intelligence
Washington, D. C. 20505
As I mentioned to you in Mr. Packard's office on 30 November, I believe
it is time to make some changes in the Ad Hoc Committee. On 11 February
1970 I wrote to John Bross (DIA Serial S-168/CS) concerning the DIA
chairman for this Committee. That letter designated my Chief of Staff,
Rear Admiral D. M. Showers, USN, as the chairman and Brigadier General
Daniel 0. Graham, USA, as his alternate.
In view of Mac Showers'. imminent retirement, I would now like to desig-
nate Mr. John Hughes, Deputy Director for Collection and Surveillance,
as chairman. I would further like to designate Rear Admiral Donald B.
Whitmire, USN, Assistant Deputy Director for Intelligence, as his
alternate.
I also suggest that the Committee should thereafter undertake a review
of the current priority statement to effect any necessary changes.
Sincerely,
D. V. BENNETT .f
