Made special arrangements to get the Director a compartment on the 4:00 p.m. train from Baltimore so that he could see General Eisenhower and ride back to Washington with him. 25X1A9a 2. Attended a briefing conducted by on the CIA logistical base concept. DD/A will be asked to concur a paper o the Joint Chiefs of Staff on this subject signed by the Director. 25X1A9a 3. Talked to about several things: a. Asked him to take the back and re- 25X1A2d1 submit it with a clear-cut statement of what is to be approved. I have spent a lot of time on it already and it is not clear yet what is wanted, b. Told him that when he got ready to send his representative to to discuss reassignment of personnel we wanted to send a man from our Personnel Office along with him. He agreed that this was desirable. c. Discussed with him the possibility of sending Messrs. Saunders and Meloon on a round-the-world junket, primarily for educational pur- poses, sometime after the first of the year. He agrees and thinks that 25X1A6a it would be useful for them to arrive in in Ma or June when he believes they might be most helpful in assisting the mission with 25X1A6a their phasing-out problems.
