Approved For Flease 2001/08/08 : CIA-RDP76-00183RQ,g0100100056-3,? DIARY NOTES ADD A M 26 September 1952 1. Received a telephone call from Mr. Harrison, Chairman of the Joint Com- mittee on Printing, who said that after having visited the GPO Reproduction Plant in South Building last week he felt that they did not have enough work to keep them busy. He also said he understood that our Reproduction Plant was25X1 6a working weekends and nights, thereby using a lot of overtime, and his implication was clear that he thou ht we were again trying to put the GPO Plant out of busi- 25X1A9a ness. I talked to about this and he said that there had been a big reduction in the volume of NIS Reports to be reproduced and that this was the type of work that the GPO it had bend . He assured me that overtime work at our Reproduction Plant wa 2 'ia tM*hich GPO cannot do. In any case, I direct- ed that he give me all of the facts on Monday so that I could telephone or get in touch with Mr. Harrison. 2. Shef Edwards advises that of OSI was killed in a light 25X1A9a airplane'accident this afternoon. The Personnel Office and others are working on the case. 3. telephoned about installing a 25X1A6a fire alarm system in the shop building which we have just constructed. Apparent- ly it would cost $1,070 to install and after the first of the year $10 per month to maintain. Sincsn+ '.s is a rblock building in which tools and other machin- ery will be stored the total value is approximately $30,000,, I told Bob not to install the alarm ystem but to keep the building under close surveillance by his guards. 25X1A9a 14. Stuart Hedden asked my permission to talk to about staying out in the Far East and being Treasurer of CAT for two to three months. He is 25X1A9a aware of the fact that wants to come back to the States to see his daughter married but might like to have him come back to the Far East after that. I told him that while we had no replacement for and miss his ser- vices very much indeed, if, on the spot, he and decided that it was in the best interests of the Agency for the General to assume this position for 25X1A9a two to three months we would get by some way.
