I pursued this matter with Mr. Hedden. He will talk to a out i' c X A9a
Thursday or Friday and let me know what he thinks we should do next. In the mean-
time, I have asked Jim Garrison to advise me as to what the fair market value of
perfectly all right to wait until next week. Incidentally, we have recently ac-
quired a young Transportation Corps officer who looks as though he will be very
good. However, we must remember that he is here for a short haul and that we
25X1C11a should be thinking about somebody to employ on a permanent basis.
25X1A9a arrived in New York at 1:30
5 p.m. this afternoon. Jim
Garrison wen to New York to see him and made contact at his hotel last night; Mr.
25X1A9a will come to Washington tomorrow. I think that Jim has the situation as well
and as anyone could have and feel reasonably sure that will continue
to be a troublesome character.

JJr#y Information
25X1A6a 6. I obtained the Director's signature on a Certificate of Necessity and
approved of leasing the t a rate of
.87-1/2 per square foot for a three-year lease with the option of leasing an ad-
ditional two years at".80 per square foot, which, if we take it on a five-year
basis, would average .81-1/2 per square foot. In addition? we persuaded the own-
er to do $1$?000 worth of alterations which we would have had to do ourselves;
this is equivalent to a reduction of .02-1/2 per square foot for a three-year
period. The Director seemed to be satisfied.
8. General Morris telephoned to inquire as to whether or not we had made any
25X1A9a commitments to I told him that to the best of my knowledge no
commitments had been made.

ued at a :later date.
10. Approved of Shef Edwards signing a brief "thank you" letter to the Chief
of Police of Washington for some special assistance rendered.
