Talked with East to survey certain manufacturing potential in 12 August 1952 concerning his trip to the Far 25X1A9a 2. Talked with abouta recent survey which he has made concern- ing overtime and sick leave. Agreed that a memorandum over my signature should go to the Deputy Director or Office Head concerned pointing out to him the individuals in his Office who, according to the record, appear to have had more than the average amount of overtime or sick leave in the recent past. 25X1A9a 3. vises me that as of now he plans to leave for the Far East about the or o September and to return not later than 20 October; this is apparently the date on which his daughter is being married. 25X1A9a !.. Talked with 10:30 a.m. 5. Asked Howard Preston to see that Loftus Becker had good air conditioning equipment without delay. 6. Agreed with Ed Saunders that I would participate in Budget Hearings from 2:30 p.m, to 1:30 p.m. each afternoon beginning tomorrow and continuing through 19 August. 25X1A1a 7. Requested Ed Saunders to keep after the hot war stockpile which the Department of Defense is supposed to have and stated that if he was not able to straighten this out within the next few days we should put an item in the Director's Log on it. 25X9A2 8. Talked to Ed Saunders about the personnel ceiling for Matt Baird's Office of Training and settled it with him; this is getting to be a fairly big Office . people now. 25X1A9a 9. Talked to twice about his budget. He is c acing to Washington on Thursday to confer with Ed Saunders and me concerning financial details, etc. 25X1A 10. Received a memorandum from _ regarding the account of 25X1A9a This memorandum included a great deal of detail which we did not have ere o ors Washington. It would appear that we can finally settle the matter.
