workable compromise on "logistical p anning. He says that Emmett is postpon-
ing his leave in order to finish the paper.
4. Told Jim that in my opinion we should plan on taking over the repro-
duction work now being done by the GPO Printing Plant in the Administration
Building when we move to our new headquarters building, and, further, that we
should, at an earl date, make an over-all survey of the work done by the GPO,
2 5X1A6 D TSS, and plants in order to plan for consolidation where possible.
5. Bob Amory telephoned to say that he understood the Office of Security
was about to give the Department of State a flat turndown on their request
for a limited number of telephone books. He was unable to supply any detail.
I told him that I would check with the Office of Security on this problem.

6. Reviewed with Messrs. Saunders a Fiscal Year 1956 budget al-
locations. Told Ed to go ahead and issue ten ve allocations, emphasizing
in his written issuance that these would be reviewed when 30 June obligations
for Fiscal Year 1955 were known more accurately.

of Ins action on the Commercial Staff and I passed two copies of it to Ken

to attend the National War College. Inasmuch as he seemed to feel that the
record might not indicate that he had been the No. 3 man on the list, asked

12. Arranged to brief Senator Byrd in his office at 12:00 Noon on Monday
concerning the possibility of our locating at Langley and the proposed exten-
sion of the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
13. Frank Wisner telephoned to ask me to take responsibility for follow-
ing up with the Director on a telephone call which he had received from Con-
gressman McCormack requesting that the Director see a Mr. Gingery. (See Mem-
orandum to Mr. Dulles on this subject.)
