This would cost about $1, 000, 000. The idea may have real merit since as it stands now
we will not be able to get the Technical Services Staff into the new building and this pro-
posed arrangement would consolidate most, if not all, of TSS in one location. However,
I explained to them that as a practical matter it might be extremely difficult to spend
$1, 000, 000 on the renovation of an old building at this time. Nevertheless, I agreed to
have Jim Garrison and his engineers make an estimate of the situation and to speak to
the Director about it. In the course of our conversation we also discussed the possi-

again with Shef. I don't really see the overriding security objections to this plan.

6. I advised George Carey that we had no objection from a security standpoint
to giving unclassified translation work to do after his retirement for
physical disabilit . He said that he would see that got some work to do. I
sent hin letter to me making this request.
